10 December 2011. Pioneer Home, Palmer, Alaska. Forget Me Not Mission was honored to host a visit from Senator Begich and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Administrator David Strickland. The two traveled to Palmer, Alaska from Washington D.C. to meet with the Forget Me Not Mission and the students of the Mat Su Valley to find out what we are doing to reduce and stop impaired and distracted driving in Alaska.
Students from 6 schools attended the event, and they talked about what it was like to work on the new book, Soul Shaking Grief Teen Edition. The students wore their FMNM shirts and made school signs to welcome our special guests. They brought their Pledge Banner, which held over 400 signatures of students who pledged that they would NEVER drive impaired by alcohol or drugs.
What an honor this was for us and for the students!
